Are there other commuter lounges on campus?
Although there are many lounges around campus that any student is welcomed to enjoy between classes there is only one Commuter Lounge with lockers, microwave, refrigerator, computers, large screen TV & cable and a staff to help commuters navigate campus.
Can commuter students purchase campus meal plans?
Yes! Campus Dining Services offers several meal plan options including the "Commuter Plus" plan for students who do not live in the residence halls. Visit www.food.osu.edu/mealplans/ for more information regarding campus meal plans. Click here to purchase an OSU campus meal plan.
How do I get around on campus?
The Campus Area Bus Service or CABS is an extensive campus wide bus system that students can ride for free. Buses shuttle students from remote parking lots such as the West Campus lots and the Commuter Express lot as well as around central campus.
How do I use COTA (Central Ohio Transit Authority)
It is easy! If you are a fees paying Ohio State student you may utilize the COTA system by simply using your red BuckID as a bus pass. Your student BuckID will allow you to ride COTA unlimited anywhere they system runs. Check out COTA for more information about bus routes and services.
What do I do if I want to be a commuter?
Commuters live outside of the University District and drive or ride public transportation to school each day. There are no requirements to fulfill in order to be a commuter other than the aforementioned demographic characteristic UNLESS you are a first quarter non-transferring freshmen. If this bests describes you, you are required to either live on-campus or live at home with your parents or close relative your first quarter. Please contact Univeristy Housing at (614)292-8266 to acquire the "Parent/Close Relative Exemption Form" if your intention is to live at home with a parent or close relative and not in the residence halls your first year.

Where do commuters park and what permit can I purchase?
Parking at OSU is determined by both rank and commuter status. Commuters with up to 89 credit hours earned (ranks 1 and 2) may purchase the West Campus C or WC pass. Students parking in this lot will catch either the Campus Loop North, or Campus Loop South or the North Express to central campus. Commuter studnets ranks 1 and 2 may also purchase the West Campus with evening garage access or WCE permit or the CXC permit. Commuters with 90 or more earned credit hours (ranks 3 and 4) are eligible to purchase the central campus C pass, the Central C with evening garage access or CE permit or may enter a lottery to purchase one of three CG, student garage access permits.

Where is the Commuter Lounge?
15 E. 15th Avenue, in the office of Off-Campus Student Services. The Commuter Lounge is open 9 a.m.-6p.m. Monday- Friday (closed university holidays)
Will my car be safe on campus?
You should always be sure you secure your vehicle and do not leave valuables in your car. For the most part campus and the campus parking lots are safe, but campus is no different from the rest of the world out there. Follow some basic safety pre-cautions and you can avoid break-ins.
