Sublet Resources
Are you a student looking to sublet your apartment or house?
Off-Campus Student Services can advertise your vacant property for free on our on-line housing search. First you should look over your lease and talk to your landlord to make sure you are permitted to sublease your apartment/house. In order for OCSS to advertise your property, your apartment/house must be completely vacant. If you are a student looking to sublet only one room out of a multi-bedroom unit, you should utilize our Roommate Resources.
Make sure you understand all terms and conditions of your lease when it comes to subletting. Landlords have various policies, which should be outlined in your lease. If you have questions, contact the Student Housing Legal Clinic or schedule an appointment online.
Some landlords may require that you remain on the lease, while others may sign you off the lease and start an entirely new lease with the individual who is to sublet your place. Some landlords may require the person who is to sublet your place to pay them a security deposit, while others may not. Certain leases may state that if damage is done to the unit during your lease term (even if it is after you move out), you can be held responsible for the costs of damages, even if the damage was done by the individual who sublets your place. So just make sure you are aware of your landlord's policies. If you have questions on legalities in certain clauses in your lease, contact the Student Housing Legal Clinic.
If you are a student, and you are looking to advertise your unit as completely vacant and available for sublet, please visit Subleter Registration Page. Your information will become part of our on-line housing search. People will then be able to contact you directly to potentially sublet your place. Please make sure to contact us when your unit is sublet, so that we can remove your information from our system.
