Finding A Place To Live

Neighborhood Services and Collaboration works with local landlords around the campus and Columbus areas. Landlords list their properties with NSC on a voluntary basis (and pay a fee). These properties are then advertised on our on-line housing search. Please keep in mind, these listings are not approved or endorsed by the University or Neighborhood Services and Collaboration, so please make sure to take the same precautions you would with any rental property. The Undergraduate Student Government does publish an annual Renter's Guide, which rates local area landlords.  To check out all Renter's Guides since 2004, visit http://www.offcampus.osu.edu/off-campus-housing/finding-a-place-to-live/usg-renters-guide/ 

NSC also has an online roommate search, in order to assist students, faculty, and staff with their roommate search.  Please keep in mind, the roommate search is OSU username/password protected.  OSU affiliates have the option of posting a roommate ad and/or viewing the roommate search.  In addition, NSC holds a Roommate Fair at least once each semester, in order to give individuals an opportunity to meet potential roommates face-to-face in an informal, safe setting.

In addition, Neighborhood Services and Collaboration hosts an annual Off-Campus Housing Fair.  The 2012 Off-Campus Housing Fair will be held Thursday, November 29, 2012 and Friday, November 30, 2012 from 12pm to 5pm in the Performance Hall of the Ohio Union.  The Off-Campus Housing Fair gives students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to meet with local area landlords and businesses related to off-campus housing/living, for a one-stop shop experience.  As an added bonus, each year tons of great prizes are raffled off (i.e. University Village sponsored an iPad2, Heritage Apartments sponsored a 42 in 3D WiFi TV, Hometeam Properties sponsored 3 $100 gift cards, and CORT Furniture sponsored $300 towards a student's textbooks)!  The Off-Campus Housing Fair is an informative, fun event to attend to assist in anyone's off-campus living experience!

In order to perform an on-line housing search, click here. If you are interested in a particular listing, contact the landlord directly to get further information regarding the unit, and potentially set up an appointment to view the place.

Because of the variation in the quality of housing in Columbus, it is highly recommended that you do not commit yourself to a place without seeing it first. In addition, never sign a lease without getting a lease review from the Student Legal Services office (614.247.5853).
