Commuter Liaisons

Commuter Liaisons are Ohio State students from all around campus with varying majors and backgrounds. They directly interact with commuters to provide opportunities to foster involvement and student success, with the goal of impacting the commuter student retention rate. Commuter Liaisons are here to direct students to available resources for commuters. In this position, you will be involved with: 

  • Peer Mentoring Program for first-year commuters
  • Event planning and programming for commuter students
  • Providing information and education about University resources to peers
  • Engaging in professional development activities and building resume
  • Planning and providing customer service to a variety of campus and community partners
  • Opportunities for advancement within the department

You do not need to be a commuter student to be a successful Commuter Liaison

Community Ambassadors

Community Ambassadors are Ohio State students who live in the off-campus University District, directly interacting with residents to provide opportunities that foster involvement and civic engagement to enhance the extraordinary student experience. Community Ambassadors can talk with students about moving off-campus, making a positive contribution to the neighborhood, staying safe in the off-campus area, and more! Community Ambassadors are peers available to support students for their many off-campus needs! In this position, you will be involved with:

  • Community outreach in the off-campus area
  • Event planning and programming for residents and students in the University District
  • Providing information and education about University resources to peers off campus
  • Engaging in professional development activities
  • Planning and providing customer service to a variety of campus and community partners
  • Opportunities for advancement within the department

Administrative Assistants

As a member of Student Life’s Off-Campus and Commuter Student Services, our Administrative Assistants interact with and serve students and landlords to provide the extraordinary experience for all Ohio State students. As an Administrative Assistant, students are able to build an extensive resource knowledge base while helping their fellow students successfully live off-campus. Not only do they build interpersonal and communication skills, but students are also able to develop project management skills through collaborative events and projects within Student Life and other external organizations. In this position, you will be involved with:

  • Administrative tasks 
  • Customer service interaction
  • Website maintenance
  • Event planning and programming for current and future off-campus students
  • Promoting office initiatives 
  • Supporting professional staff
  • Additional duties as assigned
