Commuter Mentoring Program

The Commuter Mentoring Program is for first-time commuter students at Ohio State. First-time commuters are paired with a Commuter Mentor who serves as a resource and liaison throughout the semester. The program’s goal is to increase the commuter student retention rate, increase individual attention provided to first-time commuters and to ensure first-time commuters are aware of on-campus events and resources. Commuter Mentors are a resource for students that may have questions and concerns. Additionally, they connect mentees with campus resources and events while providing regular check-ins and reflections.

Participation in this program includes:

  • Receiving monthly email updates from your Commuter Mentor
  • Individual or Group meetings with your Commuter Mentor once a month for one academic semester

What this program can offer you:

  • Connection to a peer network of commuter students at Ohio State
  • Monthly updates about what is going on around campus from your Commuter Mentor
  • Mentorship tailored to your interests and provides flexibility within your schedule
  • A bridge between you and all that Ohio State has to offer both inside and outside the classroom
  • Skills to include on your resume and discuss with potential employers in interviews

Interviews for Commuter Mentors for the 2020-2021 academic year are currently being conducted. This page will be updated once offers have been accepted.
