The Off-Campus Housing Excellence Program is a comprehensive Student Life initiative designed to improve the quality of off-campus life, enhance the vibrancy of the University District, and create an extraordinary off-campus experience. The program is currently offered for properties within the University District boundaries (N: Arcadia Ave., S: 5th Ave., W: Olentangy River, E: railroad tracks).
The Off-Campus Housing Excellence Program was created in collaboration with students, parents, property owners/managers, and city and University officials to address the unique needs and interests of the off-campus community. The program is voluntary and both students and property owners/managers can participate.
**Due to COVID-19 closures, home-walkthroughs are currently unavailable. We are currently offering online safety, security, and sustainablity consultations. For more information contact us at email@example.com.**
Any Ohio State student renting property in the University District can request a free home walk-through. This program is perfect for students who want to enhance the safety, security, and sustainability of their homes. Participation is free and voluntary. During each home walk-through, Student Life and Columbus Division of Fire representatives will:
Assess the property’s safety, security, and sustainability
Provide free safety devices and educational materials from university and city partners
Discuss proactive safety and security strategies
Provide recommendations based on assessment criteria, available on the documents bar on the right side of this page.
Enhanced rental property information
The rental listings of landlords that participate in the Off-Campus Housing Excellence Program will be accompanied by a Buckeye Excellence Level and the results of the comprehensive Off-Campus Housing Excellence Program checklist. Each rental unit that has completed a home walk-through can receive up to 5 buckeyes for safety and security, and 1 green buckeye for sustainability.
