National Night Out 2022

National Night Out (NNO): Tuesday, August 2nd

On Tuesday, August 2nd, neighborhoods throughout Columbus are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 39th Annual National Night Out (NNO) crime and drug prevention event. NNO, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored by the City of Columbus and the Columbus Division of Police, will involve over 16,400 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. NNO is designed to: (1) heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; (3) strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., on August 2nd, residents in neighborhoods throughout Columbus are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Many neighborhoods throughout Columbus will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, live music, visits from police, flashlight walks, contests, youth activities and anticrime rallies. NNO is a night for neighborhoods in Columbus to stand together to promote awareness, safety and neighborhood unity. NNO showcases the vital importance of policecommunity partnerships and citizen involvement in our fight to build safer neighborhoods. On NNO, we invite neighborhoods in Columbus to join us in the fight against crime. Whether it be a gathering of neighbors or showing support by turning on porch lights, start planning your neighborhoods event now. If you wish to participate in NNO or have any questions about the event contact your precinct Community Liaison Officer. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, August 2nd.
