Moving Out? Donate Unwanted Items!

Got unwanted clothing, furniture, food, kitchen or household items? Start sorting through your stuff now before moving out of your home and donate it! 

These items are wanted by local charitable organizations to help those in need. Many will schedule a free pick-up of items as long as you call at least two weeks in advance of your move. Don’t delay as the pick-up schedule fills up quickly. Below are some suggested non-profits where you can donate furniture and other household items.

 

Furniture Bank of Central Ohio 

Your furniture will go towards families that need it the most. Plus, it's the green solution to keep unnecessary waste out of our landfills. Schedule a free pick-up one week in advance. Call: 614-545-3838 | Website: furniturebankcoh.org

 

Goodwill

A wide variety of household items can be donated to this non-profit for reuse. Items must be dropped-off at a retail donation center. The closest retail center is located at 2550 N. High Street. Call: 614-294-5181 | Website: goodwillcolumbus.org/donate

 

Volunteers of America

Household items can be donated to this non-profit for reuse. Schedule a free pick-up at least four days in advance. Call: 614-272-2363 |Website: voago.org/donation-faq

 

Habitat for Humanity ReStore

Anything to build or furnish a home can be donated to this non-profit. Schedule a free pick-up for large furniture items at least a week in advance. Other items may be dropped off at a donation center. Call: 614-364-7028 | Website: restoremidohio.org/home/donate

 

National Kidney Services

This non-profit recycles furniture, household items, and electronics. A free pick-up (weekdays only) can be scheduled one week in advance. Call: 614-351-2900 | Website: nkspickup.com/pick_up_ohio.html

 

Neighborhood Services, Inc. 

Clothing and non-perishable food items can go to University District families in need. Clothing must be washed and clean prior to donation at 1950 N Fourth Street, M-F, between 9:00am - 3:00pm. Call: 614-297-0592 | Website: neighborhoodservicesinc.org

 

Community Computer Alliance

United Methodist Church For All People

This church delivers clothes to those in the community that are in need at no cost to the recipients.  They accept clothing and household items and are located at 946 Parsons Ave. Columbus, OH 43206.

Buckeye Food Alliance

This campus food pantry was created by students for students with the mission that “No Buckeye Goes Hungry.” Food items may be dropped-off anytime at Lincoln Tower (side loading dock). Call: 614-688-2508 | Website: https://www.buckeyefoodalliance.org

Free Burritos!

 If you need to dispose a large item right now and it cannot be donated, you can contact the City of Columbus to schedule a free bulk pick-up. Call 614-645-3111 or go online at 311.columbus.gov and follow the instructions.
