City of Columbus Expands Sustainability Services and Drop-off Collection Sites for Off-Campus Move Out/Move In
Number of recycling dumpsters will more than triple
Drop-off options for sustainable reuse, recycling and proper disposal of off-campus students’ belongings and trash as they move to and from off-campus housing this summer are expanding again, in the third year of a partnership among Ohio State Student Life’s Off-Campus and Commuter Engagement, the City of Columbus and the University District Organization.
This time, the city’s Division of Refuse Collection is adding dozens of convenient locations for drop-off service from July 26 through August 12, including more than tripling the number of recycling dumpsters to 15 to meet demand. A temporary location of its Waste and Reuse Convenience Center operations will also open.
The Convenience Center will operate behind the Ohio Stater Apartments at 2060 N. High St. on Saturday, July 27, August 3 and 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., to collect acceptable bulk items such as mattresses, furniture, appliances, electronics, food scraps and recyclables. Furniture and clothing in good condition and bicycles may be donated there, too.
The city’s dumpster locations will be designated for drop-off of household trash, recyclables or large items like furniture and mattresses not suitable for reuse. This year, temporary 300-gallon refuse containers will be placed throughout the University District for disposal of bagged household trash only.
This list identifies the types of Refuse Collection drop-off facilities available at each address from July 26 through August 12. It also includes sites of temporary 300-gallon refuse containers for bagged household trash disposal only. All locations are in the alley or parking lot behind the address unless otherwise noted.
A locations map and other helpful move out/move in information is at https://www.universitydistrict.org/move. To learn more about what’s acceptable for recycling dumpster drop-off, visit https://recycleright.org/.
